Chao Phraya River Overview

The Chao Phraya River, also known as the Mother River of Thailand, is the country's largest river. Since ships were the primary mode of transportation earlier, the river served as Bangkok's economic and social heart. Numerous historic sites along its banks offer an insight into its rich cultural history, making it an ideal location for boat cruises.

"Mother River of Thailand" or the Chao Phraya River, which has become a new hotspot for everything from retail to nightlife is one of the most lively and exhilarating places to visit on a Thailand trip.

Starting in the north of Thailand, the Chao Phraya River travels south across the flat region of southern Thailand and finally enters Bangkok Bay. Besides being the country's major river, it has served as both a significant mode of transportation and the nerve center of the country's economy and society.

Bangkok's several historical attractions like The Grand Palace, Wat Phra Keo, Wat Pho, National Museum Bangkok, Khao San Road, and ChinaTown are located near its banks, adding to its allure. A cruise on the Chao Phraya River offers the ultimate in luxury, indulgence, and entertainment. Taking a nighttime sail down the river is the ideal way to see the riverbank structures lighted up to their full grandeur.
