About Nahargarh Fort

Nahargarh Fort stands majestically on the edge of the Aravalli Hills, overlooking the vibrant city of Jaipur. Built in 1734 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, this historical marvel was initially a strong defence fort for the city. Over the years, Nahargarh, which means 'abode of tigers,' has become a favourite spot for those seeking panoramic views of Jaipur.

The fort is not just a symbol of Rajasthan's glorious past but also a masterpiece of Indo-European architecture. Its walls and bastions were later expanded, adding to its grandeur. The most famous part of the fort, Madhavendra Bhawan, was designed as a summer retreat for the royal family. This two-storied structure is a fascinating blend of beauty and history, with separate suites for the king and his queens. The entire fort is intricately designed with delicate carvings and beautiful frescoes. Jaipur travel packages offer a delightful blend of heritage, culture, and adventure, making it a perfect destination for an unforgettable experience.

Nahargarh Fort is renowned for its connection to several significant historical events and for providing shelter during the Indian Mutiny of 1857. Today, it draws visitors not only for its historical significance but also for the stunning sunset views it offers over Jaipur. It is a place where history, culture, and natural beauty come together, making it a must-visit destination for anyone travelling to Rajasthan.

It was good fun when we went cycling to the Nahargarh Fort as a group of 5 friends. We had our own separate guide, and there were also two other people with us in the group, with whom we got along quite well. The cycles were in good condition, and we have to give a thumbs up to Karthik, the guide, who led the group so well and was considerate to everyone who needed breaks.

We have done a cycling in Nahargarh with some of our friends. The complete route was filled with so many fantastic sights. Leaving the cycles behing and saying goodbye to the place was difficult. But I felt the package was over priced for 3 hours.

The experience was good as cycling in the natural and tranquil surroundings of the hills of Jaipur was kind of offbeat. I'd have rated it 5 star if the package was a little less expensive.
