About Tukad Cepung Waterfall

One of Bali’s most beautiful hidden gems, the Tukad Cepung Waterfall is an excellent addition to your Bali tour packages from India. The unique falls are hidden away underneath Tembuku’s jungle caves, offering an offbeat expedition into the wild. A river snakes along the cracks on the mountain walls here, which one must wade through in order to reach the falls.

Tukad Cepung waterfalls, located in Tembuku, is a unique attraction which is stowed beneath rocky caves, and requires a fair bit of walking. To get to the site, one must hike for 15 minutes through a scenic trail and then wade through waist-deep water and gravel. The effort is worthwhile, though, for the spectacular waterfalls tumbling against the backdrop of sunshine streaming in through the canopy overhead create a wonderful atmosphere.

The cave boulders canopying the river inside are placed at odd angles, leaving behind natural windows for the sunlight to stream through. The glittering rays of the sun that fall on water from these windows create the appearance of an ethereal rainbow. The waterfall cascades down between the rocks, creating a quiet and tranquil atmosphere.

To add to the experience, one can even head further along the river to the second, smaller falls that follow the Bali Tukad Cepung Waterfall. The road leading to the waterfall is lined with little stalls and local vendors serving plates of steaming hot noodles and soup, offering a befitting close to an adventurous day at the falls.

Tukad Cepung Waterfall Essential Information

Things to keep in mind while traveling to the Tukad Cepung Waterfall:

  • Carry Swimwear: Unlike exterior waterfalls that are best known for their hikes along the cliffside, the Tukad Cepung falls are located within the womb of mountain caves, and requires one to wade through the river. Keeping this in mind, it would be best to carry swimwear, or water-friendly clothes along!

  • Wear waterproof shoes: Since your shoes will most definitely get wet on your visit, it would be best to avoid sneakers or clothed shoes while visiting the waterfalls. Alternatively, you can choose to hike barefoot as well.

  • Arrive Early: It is best to arrive early to take full advantage of the waterfalls. As the crowd deepens, it tends to get more difficult to not only enjoy the atmosphere, but also take pictures.

  • You can avoid tour guides: The Tukad Cepung Waterfall is fairly easy to explore on your own, and does not have any secret nooks either. In this regard, avoiding a tour guide could help you budget your trip as well.

The Tukad Cepung waterfall was a unique visit. We had to swim through some of the river to reach the inside of the caves. We reached quite early, so there was hardly any crowd, and we got some fantastic pictures.

The Tukad Cepung Waterfall is one of the best in Bali, from what I had heard from executives at Thrillophilia. And it stood true, as I saw the forests surrounding it, the sounds of the water gushing below, and the peaceful atmosphere all around. The tour by Thrillophilia also included a visit to the nearby Tegalalang Rice Terrace, which was another beauty.
