Trek to the Highlands of Madhya Pradesh: Forsyth Trail

James Forsyth and walk the path he took over 150 years ago to discover Pachmarhi. Factual Information:Over 150 years ago, Captain James Forsyth’s expedition for land settlements for British India led to the plateau’s discovery. While in Satpura, he took a route through the core tiger zone. Today, this path is known as the ‘Forsyth Trail’, and is commonly retraced by wildlife enthusiasts who wish to experience the forest intimately. This is a circular trail which involves crossing a couple of streams and the magnificent Denwa Backwaters. As you trek along, you will also come across ‘Bharias’ – tribes indigenous to the valleys, known for their ancient art of healing. The hike through the middle of a tiger reserve and surrounded by lush Deciduous Jungles of Satpura and the unexplored, untouched and unbounded territory will change the way you experience wildlife.Activity:The trek itself is a beautiful experience, followed by much more surreal views at the end of it. Amidst all the natural beauty and is worth capturing in your memories, as well as in your photographs. Apart from these, the other grand highlight is an interaction with the indigenous tribe known as the ‘Bharias’. The way passes lush through lush green jungles which are home to many wild animals and rare birds. Camping alongside Denwa backwaters in the night provides an unforgettable experience. How to Reach?Located around 120 km from the city of Bhopal and in the midst of the Satpura Wildlife Sanctuary, the place can be reached by taking a road transport to the nearest village of Pipariya. From here, you can trek to the Forsyth Trail, which is about a couple of hours away. This package includes a pick and drop facility from Bhopal, and back to Bhopal.
