About Osijek
Originally known as ‘Mursa’, Osijek was renamed to its present name only in 1196. Lying in eastern Croatia, the city of Osijek shares its borders with Bosnia, Serbia, and Hungary. Nestled on the Drava River, around 16 kilometers west of the Serbian border, Osijek is known as the industrial and agricultural hub of Croatia. The city of Osijek presents a mix and match of the cultures of its neighbours.

The magnificent Baroque buildings present in the centre of the city showcase Viennese style architecture, while the flavorsome spicy cuisine of the region is evident of Hungarian influence in the food culture of Osijek. Home to the Church of St Peter and St Paul, the Croatian National Theatre, and a number of stunning restaurants and cafes, the upper Town is one of the major attractions of Osijek. Other prime attractions of the city include,  Kopa?ki rit, Trg Ante Star?evi?a, the Museum of Slavonia, and the Picasso statue.
