Locals shop here mostly and make sure to take a guide with you as you can easily get lost in its maze-like alleys. 

3. Ïew Sohra - Ïew Sohra is more of a farmers market where vendors from neighbouring villages come to Sohra to sell their wares. Every 8 days there is a Big Market Day known as ïew bah. You can buy local pickles, flower seeds, rice cakes, bamboo products, farm tools, clothes, shoes and more.

4. Laitumkhrah Market - This is another popular shopping area in the lively Laitumkhrah area. The main road is lined with shops old and new selling trendy clothes and accessories, shoes, baked goods, grocery items, local pickles, chutneys and jams and so much more. There are many trendy restaurants and cafes here where you can enjoy a wide variety of cuisines. 

5. Burra Bazaar Tura - This lively market is located in the bustling town of Tura, Garo Hills. There is a supermarket here where you can get excellent local specialities like black pepper, canned pineapple juice, pickles, a variety of chillies and more.

1. Canyoning Adventure at Mawlyngbna - Enjoy the rugged terrain and fabulous nature of Meghalaya with a river canyoning adventure in Mawlyngbna. Led by experienced guides this is an incredible adventure amid untamed nature.

2. Explore the Ancient Mawphlang Sacred Groves - Khlaw Kyntang or Sacred Groves of Meghalaya are the very soul of the tribes here. These sacred forests are revered and this one in Mawphlang is the largest here. You can explore with your guide but you are not allowed to take even a leaf out of this forest. It is said that the local deity will be offended and put a curse on the perpetrators. 

3. Conquer the Fascinating Mawryngkhang Trek - This trek is dubbed as one of the scariest treks in Meghalaya because of the 3.5 km long winding trail that is joined by rickety bamboo structures. These structures have been constructed by the locals here and they pass over hills and ridges till you reach the 100-meter-high Mawryngkhang mountain. The trail begins from Wahkhen Village and the bamboo bridges take you past forests, farms, gorges, waterfalls and hills. 

4. Visit Meghalaya's Whistling Village Kongthong - This quaint village located in the verdant East Khasi Hills follows a unique tradition that has been going on for centuries. Here the villagers do not address each other by name but by a melodic whistling tune. Each person has a unique tune by which they are known.  

5. Marvel at the Nongkhnum Island - This spectacular river island is formed by the splitting of the famous Kynshi River.This beautiful island has a surreal beach and cascading waterfalls like the Thum Falls. You can enjoy boating, nature walks and camping while you are here.
