Overview

About the Duomo:
Standing tall over the city Renaissance dome designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, Florence's Cathedral was named in honor of Santa Maria del Fiore. A vast Gothic structure built on the site of the 7th-century church of Santa Reparata, the cathedral was begun at the end of the 13th century by Arnolfo di Cambio.

The dome was added in the 15th century on a design of Filippo Brunelleschi and dominates the exterior. The exterior is covered in a decorative mix of pink, white and green marble whereas the interior, by contrast, is pretty stark and plain but quite enjoyable on warm summer days.

About the Duomo & the Secret Terraces Guided Tour:
The Cathedral is home to one of the most intricate pieces of architectural design in Italy. Note:
Children aged 6 - 11 years can avail of the child ticket for Duomo & the Secret Terraces guided tour.
Children aged 0 - 5 years can participate for free but need to make a booking to get the voucher for the guided tour to Duomo & the Secret Terraces.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Duomo & The Secret Terraces Guided Tour

    2:30 pm: tour departs from the meetup location

    2:40 pm: guided tour of the Cathedral with skip-the-line access

    3:15 pm-3:30 pm: guided tour of the Crypt

    3:40 pm - 4:00 pm: visit the Terraces

    4:30 pm: end of the tour.

    You can stay and climb to the top of the Dome and explore on your own
