Every year me and my 4 friends plan a trek to some of the treacherous places. This year was no different, especially after a long spell of staying and working from home. We went ahead with the idea but this time we booked with Thrillophilia for a luxurious camping experience. And, trust me when I say this, we had a spectacular trekking experience from the minute we arrived in Darjeeling. We had an adventurous drive to Yuksom, trespassing the Teesta river. We continued uphill and crossed the Legship bridge only to reach a Yuksom hotel where Thrillophilia had booked our stays. The minute I checked in we could not believe we could get such a place for just a day of our stay as the hotel was clean, with staff ensuring sanitization at every cost. I was amazed at how it was arranged- overnight staying in tents, camps and huts even at remote locations of Tshoka, Samiti lake, Thangshing, and Dzongri. We did share out tents but an expert team ensured safety by having a first-aid-kit in hand at all times. A big thanks to Thrillophilia for arranging all the necessary permits and managing the entry fee at places required. Totally recommend Thrillophilia if you desire a mix of sightseeing, camping, trekking and not just hiking!
Kanchenjunga is still one of the highest peaks in the world where the easternmost peaks reach a height beyond 8000 meters. Frequent incidences of snowstorms and avalanches attack have been recorded here. Besides, the topmost summit of the Kanchenjunga exhibits a decrease in oxygen level; accounting for a third of what is recorded at the sea level. Thus, the unexpected weather conditions prevailing in the atmosphere there makes it arduous for the mountaineers to climb the Kanchenjunga. Besides, bitter cold and low temperatures are enough to make Kanchenjunga trek a dangerous one for all the trekking enthusiasts.
No, Both Kanchenjunga and K2 are different mountains. With an altitude of 8536 meters, Kanchenjunga stands as the second-highest mountain ranges across the globe. Whereas, the K2 or Mount Godwin Austen is the 3rd highest in the world with an altitude of 8611 meters.
Yes, Darjeeling is a worthy place to visit. In fact, the tourist points of Darjeeling have their own charm. If you travel to eat, Darjeeling has got some exotic delicacies to serve in your platter. Thuka, traditional Nepali Thali, The Naga Cuisine, Churpee, Momos, Aloo Dum, and Sael Rotis are some mouth-watering delicacies of Darjeeling. Nevertheless, it is also a great adventurous hub for sports like mountaineering, joy ride, cottage camping, trekking, and river rafting. Do not forget to include the top-rated trek of Kanchenjunga from Darjeeling when you sit down to enlist all the things to do there.
Yes, there are many spots to watch Kanchenjunga from Darjeeling. However, for the best view, you need to make your way to Tiger Hill.
Kanchenjunga is situated at a distance of 111 km from the town of Siliguri.
