About Bongeunsa Buddhist Temple

Bongeunsa Buddhist Temple is a large temple with a history of 1000 years. The temple has 3000+ Buddhist scriptures of 13 different types. Located in the heart of Seoul, it is a place for people to relax at and reflect upon episodes of life.

Here, visitors can choose to be a part of simple Buddhist practices such as the daily dawn service, Korean Zen meditation, Dado (a tea-drinking ceremony), and Balwoogongyang (a Buddhist meal with traditional bowls). Every May on Buddha's birthday, Bongeunsa holds the Lotus Lantern Festival. A visit on this day is culturally rich and very unique for outsiders to experience.
