8. Kiyomizu-Dera: Kiyomizudera means ‘Pure Water Temple’ and it is one of the most famous and celebrated temples of Japan. This temple was founded in 780 and is famous for its wooden stage. The Otowa waterfall is situated at the base of the Kiyomizu-Dera’s main hall. It was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list in 1994.
