Later, it was converted into a city hall and is now the City Council of Helsinki. The building comes with a neoclassical style of architecture, particularly the facade. It is located in the Lion Block of the city centre and it forms a crucial part of the city’s business and social life. After the end of the Second World War, the city grew rapidly and ever since then, the building underwent a lot of changes. From restaurants for civil servants to frescoes that adorn the premises, the building underwent a beautification process. Today, it is one of the most sought after buildings in the city for both locals and tourists.
