Khuri Sand Dunes, Jaisalmer

We were planning for a trip to Rajasthan for a few months now and while we had looked at a few options, we found the Thrillophilia package quite interesting and it seemed to also suit our budget. With that in mind, we made an enquiry into the package. We enquired for a 6D 5N type of a package and we were 3 people together traveling from Bangalore. We immediately got some assistance from a person from Thrillophilia over WhatsApp requesting for some additional details, so that he could cater to our needs. The package that was curated for us covered 3 cities in Rajasthan, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. In parallel, we made our flight reservations since that was not included as part of the package. The package would start from Jaipur Airport onwards. While most folks opt for a flight back from Jaipur during their return, we were lucky enough to get a flight back to Bangalore from Jodhpur, which reduced out drive time back to the Airport. After completing our flight reservations, we made payments to Thrillophilia for our package and booked our dates. We got all the necessary details 24 hours before our journey. We started from Bangalore on 20th July and reached Jaipur around noon. We had established contact with the driver in-charge of our trip. His name was Puran Singh and he was very friendly and assuring of our stay. We had carried too much luggage and the car provided was a bit small, but we were able to manage just fine. We then reached our first hotel, Heritage Traditional Haveli. It looked splendid from outside and the room that we got was equally amazing. Maybe a tight fit for 3 but we were easily able to manage as they had provided extra bedding. We quickly freshened up and headed out for lunch and then some sightseeing for the day. We had the traditional Dal Batti Churma for lunch along with some usual Roti and Subzi. Our first visit was to the Amber fort and our driver had arranged for a guide to show us around. It took a little more than 2 hours to complete after which the guide took us to a store which had Rajasthan's clothing (Bhandani prints) and their famous 100g razai (blanket). After an hour of shopping on our fist day of the trip, we returned back to our hotel room after a few more pit stops for Jewelry and shoes and a quick view of Albert's museum, which was really well lit for the evening. Our package included breakfast and dinner, so after an hour rest, we had our dinner, which was really well made and called it a night. The next morning, we headed out to the common balcony area to have a view of what's around out hotel and we were surprised to see a few Peacock and Peahen. We then got ready for the day's planned activities and headed out after a quick breakfast in our Hotel. The breakfast spread was quite good and food was tasty as well. We passed by the Hawa Mahal quite a few times during our travel within the Jaipur city and we made sure to get a few different type of pictures of it. We first started off with Jantar Mantar and then headed to the City palace. Both of these took quite a while to cover. After a quick lunch stop, we then headed out to Albert's museum. We covered most of the places soon that day and had to wait a bit before going to the Birla Mandir. In the same complex, we had the opportunity to wear some of their traditional outfit and get some pictures taken. We requested the driver for some additional stops on the way to Jodhpur and he was able to make the necessary arrangements, so we ended the 2nd day of our trip early. On 22nd morning, we started off to Jodhpur, with a couple of pit stops planned in Ajmer (Dargah visit) and Pushkar (Bramha temple). We managed to finish both these places quickly, all thanks to Mr Puran Singh as he arranged the right folks to show us around. While most folks warned us about the high temperatures in Rajasthan for our trip, it was quite opposite and there was a lot of rainfall during our week's stay. We some how missed the major pour down and were able to cover most places without any issues. After some lunch near Pushkar, we started the remaining journey to Jodhpur. I think we reached around 7pm and got settled into our room for the night. We were going to be in Jodhpur only for a night, cover a few places the next day during the first half and then head out to Jaisalmer. The following day, we had an early start after a quick breakfast at the hotel and headed out to one of the famous eateries to have some Onion Kachori and Lassi. After this, we headed out to Umed Bhavan, which is now a hotel in majority with some section converted as a museum. But the main highlight here was a few more Peacock and Peahen. We spent most our time here to see the Peacock dance and open up with feathers. After this, we then visited the Mehrangarh fort. It took a couple our hours to visit this place. We had some nice view points that covered and showcased the blue city of Jodhpur. We then headed out for some lunch, before starting our journey to Jaisalmer. It took about 5 hours before we reached our hotel. Jaigarh, the hotel that we stayed in Jaisalmer looked indeed like a palace from outside. It was a newer establishment and could have been dusted better before handing over to us, but nonetheless, it was a really spacious room. After some rest and dinner, we called it a night. On 24th morning, we headed out to the see the fort of Jaisalmer and also the Patwon ki Haveli. At this point, not all of us were interested in the museum like attractions, so we quickly covered most places and did some additional shopping. All this took a few hours to complete and by then it was already time for lunch. We took a break for an hour or so and then headed out to our last experience, the desert camps. While we weren't thrilled about the stay, it was manageable. We took a break before we decided to do the Jeep Safari and Camel ride. The Jeep Safari was an enthralling experience and so was the Camel ride. Holding tight and being attentive was the utmost requirement for both these activities. We took some snaps and recorded some video before heading back. The desert experience was slightly different to what we had imagined because it rained quite a bit on our arrival. Upon return, we were welcomed by the folks in our desert camps followed by a cultural program and some DJ type music. Rain may have interrupted this, but we still managed to get a glimpse of it. We met another group from Karnataka there and had some conversations of our trip so far. Once the program ended, we had our dinner along with the new acquaintance and the went to bed. We started early on 25th morning to head back to Jodhpur to catch our flight back to Bangalore. Including all the travel, it felt more like a 5D 5N trip and it was a memorable one for the 3 of us. We had some crazy adventures along the journey. We would like to thank Mr Puran Singh, our driver for the whole trip. He ensured to cover all the places that we wanted to visit and also advised on what attractions we would like/dislike. This concludes our Rajasthan trip. Absolutely loved the trip.. Celebrated my 5th wedding anniversary in the beautiful city of Agra.. We witnessed all 3 weathers - Sunny at Delhi, Cloudy at Agra, Rainy at Rathambore and Windy at Jaipur.. The driver was pleasant and accomodating.. All the hotels booked were in good locations.. Thank you Thrillophilia team and big shout out to Anmol who kept checking on me during the trip..

Traveling from Indore, I was worried about the long drives, but the comfortable vehicle and well-timed breaks made it easy. The desert safari in Jaisalmer was the best part. Everything was perfectly handled by the team.
