Situated at an elevation of 13,000 ft, Lungthung Viewpoint is located in the eastern part of Sikkim. Also known as Dhupidhara, it falls between the silk route of Zuluk and Nathang Valley. This viewpoint is renowned for offering stunning panoramic views of the entire eastern Himalayas as well as the great Mount Kanchenjunga. You will also be able to see the winding roads carved out on the mountains, leading to the popular Silk Route. Additionally, you can also witness a beautiful sunrise from this viewpoint. During sunrise, the rays of the sun highlight the peaks of Mount Kanchenjunga, turning the white snow-covered peaks into light golden.
Lungthung viewpoint offers unique experiences in different seasons. In winter, the entire valley gets covered with snow, turning into a winter wonderland. Summers offer a vibrant landscape, pleasant weather and warm sunshine. During the rainy season, the valley gets decorated with several colourful flowers and the air gets mixed with their fresh fragrance. Near the viewpoint, you can also visit other popular attractions such as Laxman Chowk and Thambi Viewpoint, both of which lay at a distance of 7-8 minutes.
