A beautifully kept square, with a man-made, fresh water pond at the centre, Mananchira Square is a beautiful place full of recreational activities, art, architecture, and history. A definite addition to the places to visit in Kozhikode. It is loved by tourists and locals alike, as it provides a moment of calm in the core of the chaotic city life.

Named after Manachira, a manmade freshwater pond, which dates back to the fourteenth century. It was constructed by the Zamorian Mana Vikrama, the former ruler of Kozhikode. Before being turned into the park complex it is today, the area was known as Mananchira Maidan, famous for hosting football matches and religious rituals.

Witness the stunning architecture of the square, which is a combination of traditional Kerala style and colonial influences. The open-air theatre conducts a lot of cultural activities, including traditional music and dance performances, as well as performances from local artists. Whether one is interested in the historical, cultural, and architectural aspects or simply wants to enjoy a leisurely walk, Mananchira is the place to be.
