How To Reach

By Car: If you are leaving from Paris, take the A84 Caen-Rennes highway. After that, make a detour to Caen. Park your car in an auxiliary lot on the mainland. Free shuttle buses run to the bridge from the auxiliary lot, so you don't need to walk all the way.

By Train: Pontorson is the closest train station. From this station, take a twenty-minute shuttle to Mont Saint Michel.

  • March to October is the perfect time to visit Mont St Michel as the weather is at its best. Avoid visiting Mont St Michel during July and August as it is too hot. 
  • You won't be allowed to drive your car up to Mont-Saint-Michel. Instead, you'll have to park your car in an auxiliary lot on the mainland. Parking in the auxiliary lot can be pricey during the busy season.
  • During extreme high tides, the land surrounding Mont-Saint-Michel is submerged in water. The most aggressive high tides occur after the full moon. You're, therefore, advised to check the tidal calendar before planning your visit.
