Carved by the Chauhan Rajputs into the Aravali Hills in 1464, Neemrana served as their third capital until it fell into disrepair and was abandoned in 1947. Aman Nath and Francis Wacziarg bought the fort in 1986 and carefully restored it to its present glory. It reopened in 1991 as India's first "heritage hotel," which introduced the revolutionary idea of combining history with hospitality. Today, Neemrana stands as one of the most iconic forts and palaces in Rajasthan.

The fort was built in the Rajasthani style of architecture with influences of Mughal and colonial styles. Its layout has winding ramps, hidden staircases, courtyards, hanging gardens, turrets, and shaded verandahs that provide a peek into the grandeur of a time gone by. This historic marvel is often included in premium Rajasthan tour packages for travelers seeking an immersive heritage stay.

The heritage hotel now has more than 70 themed rooms and suites, such as Sheesh Mahal and Uma Vilas, providing the visitors with utmost luxury and comfort. The experience goes on into the evening with folk dance and music shows in the amphitheatre. The adventure enthusiasts can zip-line across ramparts (Flying Fox), ride in vintage cars and camel carts. An Ayurvedic spa, two horizon pools, and a variety of restaurants serving Rajasthani, French, Continental, and Thai food, add to an overall relaxing experience.

We enjoyed this adventure activity a lot as the view from the top was also pretty damn cool. We were a group of 6 from Sweden and Rajasthan is one of our favourite holiday spots in India. We have come a long way to get the best out of India and this was something we never tried before. It was a lot of fun for all of us! Wheeee!

The Neemrana fort Palace is indeed very beautiful and we loved the view of the amazing place that is Rajasthan. Will visit again and the activity in itself allowed us to view the lush and amazing views that make this state so picturesque.
