South Africa Honeymoon Packages

Reviewed by Thrillophilia South Africa Operations Team

Updated as of June 2026

South Africa honeymoon packages range from INR 1,10,000 to INR 1,70,000 per adult for trips lasting 6 to 11 days.

Couples can combine Cape Town beaches, the Stellenbosch Winelands and the Garden Route with a safari near Kruger, Pilanesberg or Albertinia. Shorter packages focus on Cape Town and nearby experiences, while longer routes add Hazyview, Sun City or multi-night coastal stays.

A nine-day South Africa honeymoon trip gives you enough time for one safari region and Cape Town without placing major transfers on consecutive days. Six-day routes work better when you keep the trip focused on either Cape Town or the northern safari circuit.

The Johannesburg–Hazyview–Cape Town route uses the first three nights for safari access and the final five nights for the Peninsula, Winelands and weather-dependent Cape Town activities.

As of June 2026, Thrillophilia’s South Africa honeymoon packages are rated 4.7 out of 5 across 557 reviews.

What Is Included in South Africa Honeymoon Packages?

  • Accommodation in the listed cities, resorts or safari regions
  • Daily breakfast
  • Airport and intercity transfers listed in the itinerary
  • Guided sightseeing
  • Selected game drives
  • Cape Peninsula or city tours where stated
  • Driver and parking charges for included transfers

Confirm whether the package includes a private airport transfer, domestic flight, lodge dinner and private Winelands vehicle. These items vary across the listed products.

What Is Not Included in South Africa Honeymoon Packages?

  • International flights from India
  • Visa or application costs
  • Lunch and dinner unless listed
  • Optional game drives and adventure activities
  • Tips for drivers and guides
  • Travel insurance
  • Hotel deposits and personal expenses

Self-drive options may also exclude fuel, tolls, one-way drop fees and rental excess.

What Makes a South Africa Honeymoon Trip Cost More?

Safari accommodation: Private lodges near Kruger or Hazyview cost more than a single Pilanesberg or Albertinia game drive.

Route length: Cape Town and the Garden Route fit into seven or eight days. Adding Kruger requires an internal flight and at least two additional nights.

Hotel location: Waterfront and Camps Bay rooms cost more than hotels farther inland. Ocean-facing rooms may also carry a supplement.

Travel month: Cape Town hotel demand rises between December and February. Safari lodges are busier from May to September.

Private Cape Peninsula vehicles, Franschhoek estate lunches and extra dawn drives raise the final cost.

How to Reach South Africa from India

Most flights from India reach Johannesburg or Cape Town with one connection.

Use Johannesburg first when the route includes Hazyview, Kruger, Sun City or Pilanesberg. Start in Cape Town for packages focused on the Peninsula, Winelands and Garden Route.

Mumbai to Johannesburg takes approximately 12 to 15 hours via Addis Ababa. A published Emirates Mumbai–Cape Town schedule takes about 16 hours 35 minutes via Dubai.

For a combined safari and Cape Town honeymoon, arrive in Johannesburg and fly home from Cape Town. This avoids returning north after the coastal stay.

Visa Requirements for a South Africa Honeymoon Trip

Indian couples aged 18 or above can use South Africa’s official Electronic Travel Authorisation system when travelling on ordinary passports and entering through OR Tambo, Cape Town or Lanseria International Airport.

To use the ETA system, your ordinary passport must not expire within 19 months of the application date. Both travellers complete separate applications using a passport scan and live selfie verification.

Check the validity period and permitted stay shown on your approved ETA before departure.

Short-term visas are currently free for Indian nationals, though VFS service and optional charges may apply. Both applications should show matching flights, hotels and route dates.

Best Places to Visit on a South Africa Honeymoon

Cape Town: Keep three to four days for Table Mountain, Bo-Kaap, V&A Waterfront and Cape Peninsula. Keep one slot movable because cableway and ferry services stop during poor weather.

Kruger National Park: Keep at least two nights near Hazyview or a reserve entrance. Confirm the gate used because lodge-to-gate drives can take longer than expected.

Stellenbosch and Franschhoek: Reserve estate lunches before weekends. A private driver works better when both partners plan to taste wine.

Garden Route: Spend two to three days between Wilderness, Knysna, Mossel Bay and Albertinia. Keep the final night in Cape Town before the international flight.

Boulders Beach: Keep around one hour during the Cape Peninsula tour and remain on the marked boardwalks.

Kavita Nair, who booked the South African Romantic Getaway in April 2026, shared:

“Cape Point, Boulders Beach penguins, Stellenbosch winelands and the Garden Route all in one package. Every day brought something completely different and the resort in Cape Town had an ocean view worth waking up for.”

Things to Do on a South Africa Honeymoon Trip

Take a game drive: Drives usually last two to four hours. Extra safari drives can cost INR 5,000 to INR 12,000 per person.

Visit the Cape Winelands: Guided tours start from around INR 3,200 per person. Confirm whether the rate includes two or three estates, tastings, lunch and hotel pickup.

Cruise from the V&A Waterfront: One to two-hour cruises generally cost INR 800 to INR 1,500 per person. Book a late-afternoon departure after checking the wind forecast.

Try shark cage diving: A current Gansbaai tour costs ZAR 2,450, approximately INR 14,037 per person. It is a full-day trip and may be cancelled when sea conditions are unsuitable.

Take the Table Mountain cableway: An adult return ticket valid until June 30, 2026, costs ZAR 610, approximately INR 3,495. From July 1, 2026, the online adult return fare becomes ZAR 475, approximately INR 2,722.

Foreign-currency conversions use ZAR 1 = approximately INR 5.73 as of June 19, 2026.

Kavita Rao, who booked Couple Special: South African Bliss in April 2026, said:

“The shark cage dive at Gansbaai on Day 5 was arranged by Thrillophilia at short notice when we asked about it and went perfectly.”

Vegetarian and Food Guide for Indian Couples

Cape Town and Johannesburg have the widest Indian and vegetarian food choices. Safari lodges and smaller Garden Route towns need advance dietary requests.

Tell Thrillophilia about Jain or vegetarian meals before the lodge booking is confirmed. Buy snacks in Hazyview before transferring to a remote safari property.

Ask the lodge for a packed breakfast the evening before a dawn drive. Keep the main restaurant booking for Cape Town or Franschhoek, where couples have a wider choice.

Franschhoek estate lunches with wine pairing generally cost INR 3,500 to INR 6,000 per person.

Why Book South Africa Honeymoon Packages with Thrillophilia?

  • Johannesburg, Hazyview and Cape Town can be sequenced without a return north.
  • The number of included drives and safari-lodge meals can be checked before payment.
  • Private Peninsula and Winelands vehicles can be added for couples.
  • Table Mountain and Robben Island slots can move when weather stops operations.
  • Garden Route nights can be placed before a final Cape Town stay.
  • Vegetarian, Jain and packed-breakfast requests can be shared with the lodge.

Seeking an escape from the tech-city grind, I booked an 7 -day southern Africa circuit, and it exceeded every possible expectation. Thrillophilia managed the complex crossing from Victoria Falls into the Okavango Delta with impressive efficiency, ensuring our 4x4 vehicles were always prepped and ready. Seeing a pride of lions at dusk while our guide explained the delicate ecosystem of the Savuti region was a spiritual highlight. The mix of high-octane game drives and quiet, starlit dinners in the middle of the savannah made this the most balanced and restorative trip I’ve ever taken.
