Musee de la Vie Romantique Paris Overview

Musee de la Vie Romantique is a literary museum in Paris located on the foot of Montmartre Hill in the 9th arrondissement, 16 rue chaptal. The beautiful museum was once a base for the Dutch-born painter Ary Scheffer. It was the place where he would host Friday evening events with his daughter and specific popular artist meet-ups. This place was used by his lineage until it was turned into a museum in 1982 under the name of le musée de la vie Romantique even from the outside, you will see the museum radiating artistic feelings through its magnificent green-colored windows and doors with surrounding plants and trees.

Musee de la Vie Romantique is an enchanting museum to explore at the foot of Montmartre Hill, the 9th arrondissement of Paris. This museum is one of three literary museums among the 14 City of Paris Museums. Musee de la Vie Romantique translates to "Museum of Romantics". Covered with lush green plants outside, the museum of Romantics stays true to its name with the looks of the short staircase leading to the structure comprising enchanting emerald-colored doors and windows.

The Musée de la Vie Romantique Paris, also known as the Museum of Romantics, is a must-visit destination for those interested in Europe Tour Packages. It epitomizes the romantic era of early 19th-century France through its diverse collection of paintings, sculptures, and furniture. The museum maintains furniture dating back to 1830, arranged in similar fashion to the era. As you explore, you'll encounter the euphoric works of George Sand, a heroine of Romantic European Literature, and the Dutch painter Ary Scheffer, all within a calm and warm atmosphere.

The museum was originally a base for the dutch painter as he was the favorite of King Louis Philippe and the royal family. The popular painter would host Friday evening salons with his daughter and other famous artists would meet up in this place.

The museum remained a private residence of the painter’s descendants but eventually, in 1982, this place was incorporated into a museum bearing the name of musée de la vie Romantique Paris. In 1987, the beautiful museum was opened to the public for experiencing the captivating French art of its time.
