Kalinjar Fort

Inarguably the most arresting historical site anywhere near Chitrakoot, Kalinjar Fort is a fortress-city located in the Banda District. The fort, built in the 10th century, tells the tales of the glorious past of Bundelkhand region and of the various battles in the history that were fought for the possession of this fort due to its strategic location.

The fort featuring intricate carving, brilliant mixed architecture, and ancient temples, served numerous rulers over a long period. Singing the songs of glory sitting on an isolated hillock, this fort is one of the most interesting places to visit in Chitrakoot.
