The monsoon season
in Kufri creates no hindrance in your sightseeing activities as this place
receives scanty rainfall. While Kufri doesn’t witness frequent rainfall, the
entire town gets covered with mist during this season and this is the duration
when the beauty of this place is at its peak. So, if you are a nature buff who
loves to spend some laidback time away from the boisterous crowd of the city,
you have landed at the right place and at the right time.
The town of Kufri
looks heavenly in the rainy season as the monsoon showers further enhance its
charm. It witnesses the first knock of monsoon in the month of July which
continues till the September month. During these months, the temperature of the
town may drop to around 10 degree Celsius. Monsoon season is usually a downtime
for Kufri and hence it forms an ideal getaway location for peace seekers.
Things to do:
Apart from the
popular tourist spots of Mahasu Peak, Indira Tourist Park, and the Himalayan
Nature Park, one can also pay a visit to the ancient temple of Bhima Kali Mata.
This is considered to be a highly sacred temple which is visited in large
numbers by locals as well as tourists. Kufri Tourist Market is another such
place which will give you a hint of the rich traditions and culture of the
town. It is a tiny marketplace housing
numerous shops which offer handmade items to take home.
The skills of the local
people are clearly evident in the beautiful handicrafts which are displayed in
the market. Here you can also find many roadside stalls serving hot tea and
snacks to the visitors to help them beat the cold monsoon season. The vibrant
streets of this market perfectly complement the calmer surroundings of Kufri.
Kufri Main Bazaar
is one more market which shares an uncanny resemblance with the Tourist Market.
Though it is widely known for its local handicraft, clothing and accessories
shops, it also houses several electronics and repair shops. So, if you are
facing any issues with your cellphones that required an immediate fix, this is
the perfect place to go.
Accounting to the chilly weather of the town in
monsoon and winter seasons, the market also sells a large number of woolen
accessories including caps, mufflers, and gloves. Hence, if you have forgotten
to carry your monsoon essentials along with you, you can get them all from the
