Sule Pagoda

Located in the heart of Yangon, the Sule Pagoda is a Burmese stupa believed to be built during the time of the Buddha, about 2,600 years ago. It is surrounded by various structures of historical, business, and cultural significance and is visited by devotees from across the world.

Mount Popa

Bodhi Tataung

Along with this, a 312 ft reclining Buddha is also situated that supplements the appeal of the place. Taukkyan War Cemetery

The Taukkyan War Cemetery is a memorial dedicated to allied soldiers who died during the Second World War in Myanmar. It has 6,374 graves of World War II soldiers whereas its pillars have over 27,000 names of Commonwealth soldiers who died during battles in Burma but do not have graves.

Maha Bandoola Garden

Mingun Temple

A massive but incomplete pagoda settled on the bank of the Irrawaddy River, Mingun Temple was meant to be the largest pagoda in Myanmar. It houses two giant stone lions roughly 29 meters high guarding the pagoda.

The construction of the pagoda started at the end of the 19th century when King Bodawpaya wanted to build a 152 meters high structure. However, the project was not completed due to a lack of funds and labor. Nevertheless, it still serves as one of the famous worship places in Myanmar.

Thatbyinnyu Temple is an ancient 12th-century Buddhist temple built during the reign of King Alaungs. Htilominlo Temple

Towering 46 m, the Htilominlo Temple is amongst the most majestic places to see in Myanmar. It was constructed in the 1218 era under the rules of King Htilominlo and is similar in structure to the Sulamani Temple, which was built almost three decades ago.

The Htilominlo Temple is a marvelous brick structure with white intricately carved stuccos depicting ogresses and mythological animals such as Makara sea creatures. Its Shikhara is quite similar to that of the Ananda Temple except that it is not gilded.

Kuthodaw Pagoda

The pagoda complex boasts of 729 shrines each holding a single marble slab inscribed on both sides with Buddhist teachings.

Snake Pagoda

Popularly known as Hmwe Paya, the Snake Pagoda is amongst the most interesting places to visit in Myanmar. It is home to several large pythons who live here coiled around the enshrined Buddha statue.

The temple was founded in 1974 when a Buddhist monk started seeing the snakes as holy souls of monks and began taking care of them. It houses images of four sead Buddha each placed on the entrance gate and beautiful images of the Gautama Buddha and the Maitreya Buddha, placed side by side. The temple complex is enclosed in a wall with huge arched gates leading to the pagoda.

Musmeah Yeshua Synagogue

Nathlaung Kyaung Temple

Shwesandaw Pagoda

Upali Thein

Plan a visit to this one of the most spectacular places to visit in Myanmar to get the taste of ancient Burmese architecture and grandeur. It is a Buddhist ordination hall situated midway between Bagan and Nyaung U regions and is home to well-preserved interior frescoes of Konbaung Dynasty.

The building was named after a celebrated monk Upali from the 13th century. The building remains locked to protect the ancient and precious artworks, but one can witness the beauty of the place from the gated doorways if the guard isn’t around.

Gawdawpalin Temple

Crowned as the second-largest temple, the Gawdawpalin is located on the plains of Bagan. It is a two-storey structure with a height of 55 meters. The ground floor of the Gawdawpalin temple has three terraces, a wide corridor, and seated Buddha images set on a pedestal on each of the four sides.

Bagan Viewing Tower

Abeyadana Temple

Built in the 12th century during King Kyanzittha's reign, the Abeyadana Temple reflects ancient history and Burmese culture. It is an architectural wonder of the ancient Burmese style and is known for its grand sitting Buddha and beautiful paintings that are the true treasures of this temple.

Bagan Archaeological Museum

Bagan Archaeological Museum is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Myanmar that is home to a wide range of ancient artifacts.

The museum is spread across three floors, the ground floor houses the stuff (artifacts, paintings, literature, and more) of the Pagan Era, whereas, the first floor has the paintings of antique pagodas, Buddha statues, and ancient wall portraits. Lastly, the second floor has an observation deck, from where one can enjoy the scenic views of the city and the surroundings.

Purcell Tower

Situated in the heart of the town of Pyin Oo Lwin, Purcell Tower is one of the most peculiar tourist places in Myanmar. It has a large clock, one of the few made in 1934, by renowned Gillette and Johnson Co. of England.

The clock was created in celebration of the Silver Jubilee of the rule of King George V of Britain. Though there are many stories behind the making of the tower, it still rings the tune of Big Ben and plays 16 notes before the hour, making the visit even more delightful.

National Kandawgyi Gardens

This Botanical Gardens has three museums, lakes, well-paved trails, and is home to a range of fishes and pretty black and white swans. The presence of a watchtower makes the visit to this place more enticing and amusing.

Win Sein Taw Ya - Reclining Buddha

Known as the Giant Budha of Mudon, the Win Sein Taw Ya Pagoda is actually the world's largest image of reclining Buddha. It is among the spectacular tourist attractions in Myanmar that are worth visiting for the grandeur and charisma. /

The Budha is placed at 30 m high and about 180 m in length and is visible from miles. The pagoda has several small rooms depicting the teachings of Buddha through paintings and inscriptions.

Saddar Cave

Adorned with hundreds of Buddhist statues, the Saddar Cave mesmerizes the visitors with its incredible rock formations and an azure lagoon.The stalactites, dripping from the ceiling, and stalagmites, rising from the ground, make unique patterns inside the cave providing a picturesque scene.

The cave ends in open waters from where a local boatman will take you out of the cave in its canoe onto a pristine blue lagoon. Saddar Cave is a true natural wonder but indeed a great place to experience inner connection and ultimate rejuvenation.
