Why Honeymoon In Europe?

Best Time To Visit Europe

01

Peak Season

The Peak Season in Europe starts with the summer season and usually lasts from mid-June till August. Europe during this season is jam packed.

Almost everyone seems to be travelling at this time and since schools and universities are in vacation mode, you can expect to come across a lot of families with children and backpackers.

The advantages of visiting Europe in the peak season are many- the weather is optimal for sight-seeing and all facilities are available.

The days are long and the nightlife is wild. But the rush could be a disadvantage since tussling with hordes of people is not fun.

You will have to plan smart if you are going to Europe during the peak season and include some offbeat destinations in your itinerary which will allow you to enjoy yourself in relative peace and solitude.

Peak Months: May - August
Pros of Peak Season: Chances of meeting other tourists
Cons of Peak Season: Hotels rate will high.

Off Season

The Off Season in Europe coincides with the peak winter months from November through March. Snows cover the land and grey mists hang over the cities.

Days are short and even during the day, catching a glimpse of the sun is difficult. But for all its seeming disadvantages- the Off Season can actually be a great time to visit Europe.

Since it is Off Season, you have the advantage of lower flight fares and even accommodation rates are considerably low. The snow does make temperatures drop wildly, but it also beautifies the cities and the countryside covered in soft snow is a breath-taking sight.

And enjoying a hot cup of thick hot chocolate next to a blazing fireplace while it snows outside is an experience to remember.

Europe is also a popular location for snow sports, and this is the best season to enjoy skiing and ice skating. The continent is significantly less crowded, making it much easier to enjoy yourself everywhere you go.

Off Season Months: November to March

Pros of Off Season: Less tourists and less prices for everything

Cons of Off Season: Snow fall will close certain tourist spots

Travel Documents For European Honeymoon

03

Passport

Unless you are a citizen of a European Union Country, you will need a passport to travel to Europe. Your passport needs to be shown at both the arrival and departure airport, and should be on you at all times for identification purposes.

The passport should have been issued at most 10 years before the date of departure and should continue to be valid for 90 days after you land in Europe.

04

Visa

Visa requirements for Europe follow a slightly different pattern to those around the world. The best visa to get when you are travelling to Europe is the Schengen Visa.

Though individual visas can also be procured from the respective Embassy, A Schengen Visa greatly expands your options.

The Visa applies to 26 European nations and is considered valid in all the 26 countries for the length of the visa’s validity. Getting a Schengen Visa costs less than getting separate visas would cost you altogether.

The visa applies to Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein

The visa is valid for a minimum of 90 days though this might vary according to the visa option that you select.  There are tourist visas for 90 and 180 days as well as business visas and Limited Validity Territorial Visas.

The railway network across Europe is an efficient, cheap and exciting way to travel around Europe and experience the countryside.  There are several railway passes and networks to choose from when in Europe including the Eurail, Britrail, Inter-rail, and EuroStar.   It is best to get your pass before you land in Europe. This will add to your ease and convenience. This can be done online.

Eurail: These passes are available to anyone who is not a citizen of Europe and can be used to travel all over Europe. You will also need to carry your passport and visa along.

The Eurail Pass also has several categories within it- the Eurail Global Pass, the Eurail Select Pass, and the Eurail One Country Pass.

Britrail: These passes are available to anyone who is not a citizen of the UK. A Britrail pass is a pass which allows you to travel uninhibited all over England, Scotland and Wales.

You will need a Britrail pass even though you have a Eurail Global Pass as UK is not included in the Eurail Pass.

Interrail: These passes are only available to citizens of Europe or for people who can prove they have been residents of a European country for more than six months. These passes are ideal for foreign students in Europe.

EuroStar: This is the famous rail service that offers high speed trains between London and Paris, and Brussels & Paris. Anyone may purchase tickets, but Eurail pass holders are eligible for a discounted ticket.

Air Transport

Air Transport between European countries is a quick and efficient way to get from one country to the other. Frequent flights connect the different European countries to each other and tickets can easily be booked at a moment’s notice.

Many budget airlines are allowed to operate within EU, which makes travelling by air cheap. Air travel is aa good idea if you are travelling to distant countries- like a trip between France and Norway.

Peripheral countries like Spain and Greece are also easier to reach by air. Choose budget airlines for inter-Europe travel in order to get the best rates.
