Fateh Sagar Lake

Built by Maharana Jai Singh in the 17th century and later remodeled by Maharana Fateh Singh, the Fateh Sagar Lake is known to be one of the most famous lakes in Udaipur.

Extending up to a length of around 2.5 kilometers, this pear-shaped lake features 3 islands - one having a park with stunning water-jet fountains, another having a solar observatory known as Udaipur Solar Observatory, and the third one having a tiny zoo and a lush park known as ‘Nehru Park’.

Location: Udaipur, Rajasthan.

Lake Pichola

Known as one of the most picturesque and best lakes in Udaipur, Lake Pichola dates back to the 14th century. Often featured in Bollywood and Hollywood movies, this lake welcomes a heavy influx of tourists throughout the year.

Jaisamand Lake

Dating back to the 17th century, Jaisamand Lake was built during the rule of Maharana Jai Singh. Perched on the serene banks of River Gomti, this 14 kilometers long lake is considered to be the second largest man-made lake of the country.

The lake is surrounded by stunning marble-carved cenotaphs and palaces on all sides. It also shelters the Jaisamand Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to a number of wild animals and migratory birds.

Rajsamand Lake

Built by Maharana Raj Singh back in 1660, Rajsamand Lake is considered to be one of the best lakes in Udaipur due to its peaceful environs. This historic lake is known popularly for offering quiet walks and surreal sunset views.

The southern end of this lake features 9 marble-made ghats or ‘nav chawkis’ that go into the waterbody. The embankment is dotted by 12 marble pavilions that are etched with the glorious history of the region of Mewar. Here, one can also spot the torans where the kings distributed their wealth in an important annual event held in the times gone by.

Badi Lake

Also known as ‘Jiyan Sagar’, Badi Lake is yet another man-made freshwater lake constructed in the 17th century by Maharana Raj Singh in order to help the residents of the Badi village during an acute drought in the year 1973.

The name of this lake is inspired from the name of the King’s mother, Jana Devi. Badi lake is one of the most famous lakes in Udaipur for its thin crowds and tranquil atmosphere. The lake is surrounded by a peaceful stone-laden walkway, which offers the visitors a calm walk during the morning and evening hours.

We recently booked this trip and it was fun exploring the beautiful cities. We came to Delhi from Bangalore and then we explored Delhi for a day we went to see Qutub Minar, Red fort, Jantar Mantar and even tried street food which was so delicious, after that, we went to see the mesmerizing Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, After that we explored Jaipur and then we went to the city of lakes Udaipur, the city is so beautiful, the sunset was so alluring. We even explored the palace in Udaipur and even went shopping. It was a fun experience. The trip was well organized, the stay was comfortable, meals and transportation facility was also nice. Thanks for the great experience.

I went to the resort via Lakhela with my family. It was recommended by my friend. The room was very spacious and clean. Staff behavior was amazing. The view from the lake facing rooms is awesome. We all enjoyed our spa sessions it was relaxing taken all our tiredness away. Also, the pool was clean. Overall a great stay.
