Wander Around the Elegant Patio de Las Doncellas

The Patio de las Doncellas, or the Patio of the Maidens, is the heart-stealer of Seville’s Alcázar. This breathtaking courtyard features a stunning central pool surrounded by symmetrical arches and plasterwork, making it a true example of Moorish design.

The name, which translates to "Patio of the Maidens," is shrouded in mystery—some believe it refers to a type of flower that once adorned the space rather than actual maidens. Whether you're drawn to its serene beauty or its iconic appearance in pop culture hits like Game of Thrones, the Patio de las Doncellas is a must-see.

The standout feature here is the striking columns crafted from white, black, and pink marble, which creates a captivating visual contrast. Originally designed by Pedro’s architects, the patio’s design was later enhanced with upper floors and a skylight, adding layers of elegance to its already enchanting appeal. Take a moment to admire this hidden gem; its beauty is truly in the details.

Step into the Sacred Chapel of the Gothic Palace

When you step into the Chapel of the Gothic Palace, you're entering a space brimming with charm and history. The chapel's pointed arches and airy design set the stage for the altarpiece of the Virgin de la Antigua by Diego de Castillejo—a captivating replica of the original in Seville Cathedral.

But it’s the chapel's vibrant yellow ribbing on the ceiling that truly steals the show, offering a bold contrast to the Mudéjar architecture of the Real Alcázar of Seville. While you're exploring, be sure to check out the Tapestry Room too. Though the tapestries here are replicas, they’re a visual delight and add a touch of elegance to the Gothic Palace experience.
