The lesser-known, yet one of the most beautiful places to visit in Meghalaya, the Rainbow Falls near the small village of Tyrana known for the amazing living root bridges are a sight to behold for sure. After walking for about an hour from the village, you reach these falls which are the perfect definition of love at first sight. 

As if the stream of water steadily falling into the deep-hued turquoise pool below wasn’t mesmerizing enough, the rainbow-like reflections generating from the falls give it a whole new level of beauty to be proud of.

Located at a small distance of about 12 km from the city of Cherrapunji, the Kynrem Falls find their home in the Thangkharang Park of the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya. With a falling height of about 305 meters, the waterfalls are the 7th highest in the country and there are three stages in which the attraction is divided in. 

Swelling to great sizes during the monsoons, the falls offer a great view of itself when seen from several different angles within the national park itself. The falls have an increasing popularity when it comes to tourist places in Meghalaya.

One of the main attractions of the city of Cherrapunji, the National Park is famous for providing and an amazing view of the country of Bangladesh from here. Home to the amazing Kynrem Falls and the famous Khoh Ramhah Rock, the park is a scenic wonder in all senses and becomes more so when it starts raining here. 

The green sheet swells in size and the streams become more and more eminent in their flow. There are also many footbridges, one of which passes over a raging stream in the monsoons and is a sight to behold.

Located in the Thangkharang National Park, this single rock entity is known as the Khoh Ramhah, Pillar Rock, or the Mothorp, is a major tourist attraction in Cherrapunji. The shape of this somewhat conical rock is just mesmerizing to look at. 

It is joined by two rocks of similar shapes but much smaller in size, adding to the beauty of the whole scene, with a small stream flowing by them which then turns into a small waterfall. A place associated with legends, this is one of the best places to see in the National Park.

Falling on the road between Shillong and Jowai (NH 44), these waterfalls demand a short trek to be taken to reach the location of their spectacular beauty. Walking a beautiful arch bridge, you reach the waterfalls, which not only is beautiful because of the presence of the waterfalls. The place also offers a great view of the Pynthor Nein which is a famous rice valley. 

Coming out of the trees of the area, a look at the waterfall will sure take your breath away in a moment. Located only 5 km from the town of Jowai, this place is a must visit if you are in the vicinity.

A great attraction on the National Highway 44, this lake is located at a distance of 8 km from Jowai and is fed by a natural spring. Associated with many legends, one of which says that the lake was dug by an ancient chieftain of the kingdom and his disciples, with the end of their bows, this place has become a great attraction for tourists and is a favorite picnic spot for the locals. 

When the weather is clear and the sun is out, the reflection in the water is said to be breathtaking. Apart from that, the lake also holds a religious importance for the people of the Raid Mukhla belief.

Ka Bri Ki Synrang, literally translating into the Garden of Caves, this place is located in a small village Laitmawsiang of Sohra, Meghalaya. Located in the midst of dense forests, the park contains breathtaking sceneries, whichever way you look.

A part of the famous horse cart trail that was built by the famous British Administrator David Scott in the years of his stay in the Khasi hills. The 16 km trek originally started in Cherrapunji and went up to Bangladesh, which also resulted in a war between the Khasi tribe and the British back in the day. 

The trail now spreads between the villages of Mawphlang to Ladmawphlang. You can see many river streams, forests, meadows, and rock structures that are the center of the Khasi culture, making this a great adventure and a memorable exploration.

The primary place of worship for more than 300,000 Catholics residing in the area of Shillong, East Khasi Hills and the Ri-Bhoi regions, the Mary Help of Christians Cathedral is more than 50 years old and has earned a significant place in the hearts of locals, as well as people coming from outside to witness the mesmerizing beauty.

The village of Mawlynnong is famous for various reasons, but one of them sure has to be the amazing living root bridges that the locals have created to make their commute easier.
