Pantai Tengah Beach

The Pantai Tengah Beach is the longest stretch of the beach in the Langkawi. Popular amoungst the young families, the beach has a few basic chalets as well as a few big all-inclusive resorts, this is one of the best beaches in Langkawi.

Location: Pantai Tengah Beach is located just near the southern road bend of Pantai Cenang. It is believed to be the continuation of the much popular Pantai Cenang.

Highlights: If the truth be told, there is not much of sightseeing here but that of course is a case with most of the islands here in Langkawi. Despite that, it is a great place to unwind and relax. Datai Bay

Datai Langkawi houses some of the Langkawi Island’s most swanky and exquisite resorts i.e. The Datai and The Andaman. If you are staying here during your trip to Langkawi, there is no other place to visit besides this. Datai Bay is one of the most highly recommended Langkawi beaches.

Location: Located at the Datai area at the north western end of Langkawi, you can reach here via a taxi or a rental car along the road Jalan Datai (#161). From the Pantai Cenang, it is about a 45 minutes drive to reach the Datai beach.

Highlights: True that there are not too many tourist attractions in this quarter of Langkawi Island however, you can make your way to the Ibrahim Hussein Foundation Museum and the Langkawi Crocodile Farm that are definitely in the close proximity to the Datai Bay. Pantai Kok Beach

Pantai Kok Beach is a home to some of the most high end and upscale resorts such as the Sheraton and Tanjung Sanctuary. This is one of the famous Beaches in Langkawi, beautiful with clear waters and clean sands and definitely a great tourist attraction. Black Sand Beach

Black Sand Beach is also known as the Pantai Pasir Hitam, which is one of the famous Langkawi beaches. In Malay, Pantai stands for beach, Pasir means the sand and Hitam stands for black, hence the name. There are several stories explaining the blackness of the sand. Swimming or sunbathing is not recommended here.

Highlights: The beach has small stalls and shops that are run by the local women. These women sell the local dress materials, clothes and accessories. Ideal for fishing, the beach was popular as a fishing village.

Location: Located on the Jalan Teluk Yu road the Black Sand Beach is present on the northern shoreline of Langkawi. About 20kms from Kuah Town it is situated in close proximity to the Shark Bay Beach.

Best Time: Open 24 hours, Black Sand Beach can be visited at any hour of the day. Take note that the stalls and the shops here usually close by sunset.

Shark Bay Beach

Shark Bay Beach is undoubtedly the most beautiful and popular beaches in Langkawi. It gets its name, Shark Bay Beach because of the presence of few sharks made of stone. These sharks on the display at the side of the beach promenade. You’ll not get to see any real sharks here and the water is definitely very calm here. Not too long, the beach is said to be the continuation of the Black Sand Beach.

Highlights: The beach is about 200 meters long and is ideal for swimming.

Location: The Shark Bay Beach is situated on the road Jalan Teluk Yu. It is located opposite to the Cultural Craft Complex and is on the northern shoreline of Langkawi. Situated about 21kms from Kuah Town and 24kms from the airport, you can reach the beach via a taxi or a rental car.

Tengkorak Beach

Tengkorak Beach is one of the most visited Langkawi beaches. It has just about everything for the beach lovers and is a favorite of locals here. From the crystal clear waters to the soft white sands and forested trees, you get everything here.

Location: Situated in the Datai area, the Tengkorak Beach is easily accessible from the road Jalan Datai (Rd #161) in northern Langkawi. This road will go all the way to the Datai Resort. You can easily get a taxi to help you reach the place. About 3 km from the Crocodile Farm, it is located just before Andaman Resort.

Highlights: It is one of the few beaches in Langkawi that has shower rooms and toilets. You can also find picnic tables in the park land and there are shaded gazebos along the beach.

Pebble Beach

Pebble Beach is a beach with no sand and just pebbles and rocks. You can find rocks and pebbles of just about every shape and size, hence the name, The Pebble Beach. Not too many locals or the tourists know or visit this one of the famous Langkawi beaches. Since there is no sand, it is not ideal for swimming.

Location: Pebble Beach is situated at the north western end of Langkawi in Datai area. Situated right opposite to the Temurun waterfalls on the north shore, you can reach the beach from the Jalan Datai (road #161). You’ll have to pass through the steep natural trail that passes through a forested area for about 50 yards to the beach and is covered by trees.

Highlights: There is a make shift open-air restaurant called 3-Tiga that is situated on the trail that leads you down to the beach.

Best Time: Open 24 hours a day.

Batu Hampar Beach

Batu Hampar Beach is a public beach that is filled with rock formations at both the ends. You can find many trees, mangroves and coconut trees here. And this is one of the highly recommended beaches in Langkawi.

Highlights: Batu Hampar Beach does not have any public facilities like shower or toilets however, since it is exclusively used by the Sheraton hotel guests, they enjoy the access to the hotel amenities including beach chairs, towels, umbrellas and even washrooms located adjacent to the beach. Chairs and umbrellas are also found here.

Location: Situated in the Pantai Kok area in a place known as the Teluk Nibong. Batu Hampar Beach on the western coastline of Langkawi, lies in front of the hotel Sherataon Langkawi Beach Resort.
