3. Sri Poyatha Moorthi Temple
4. Wat Koh Wananram
5. Sri Maha Mariammam Devasthanam

The island of Langkawi is well known for its mystical charm, and the temples in Langkawi contribute much to it. An apt expression of the island’s religious diversity and history, the Langkawi temples demand a visit on one’s visit to the island.

Buddhist shrines are the biggest religious draw at the island. Some of the most well known Buddhist temples here include the Wat Tham Kisap and the Wat Koh Wanaram. Stowed away amidst jungles, both the temples offer a serene refuge away from the busy tourist areas in Langkawi. However, the island’s diversity in religious practices is made evident through diverse praying centers like of Thean Hou, Langkawi’s biggest and very own Chinese temple, and the plethora of Hindu temples it houses. Each temple, of course, boasts of flamboyant architectural brilliance adhering to its own fate and history. Langkawi island also features a mosque, the Al Hana Mosque, which is one of its most prominent historical attractions.

Wat Tham Kisap

- Wat Tham Kisap is a Buddhist temple, where many Hindu Langkawi temples can also be seen and the two together imbue the allure of the attraction.

- It's a bit off the beaten path, surrounded by woods, at the foot of the same Marble Cliff as Koh Wanararm.

- The great number of sculptures of animals, legendary beings, and monks make this place more interesting.

- There is a big golden seated Buddha statue, which is notable for a small flat cave hidden behind the temple's structures in the marble rock.

Location: Jalan Ayer Hangat Road

Timings: 8am-5pm

How to reach: Driving from Kuah, one will come across signs on the road leading to the temple. Take the designated turn and drive about 200 meters to where the road folds. Here one leg of the division will stand the Hindu shrine, and on the other the Buddhist temple.
