Nilgiri Mountain Railway

Ooty Lake

Botanical Garden

What used to be a vegetable farm in the 1840s for the British is now one of the most beautiful gardens in the whole of India known as Botanical Garden.  This lush oasis of greenery is divided into 6 sections- New Garden, Fountain Terrace, Conservatory, Lower Garden, Nurseries, and Italian Garden. Lying on the slopes of the Doddabetta Peak, it is landscaped in the form of terraces.

Located strategically between Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, Mudumalai National Park is the first Biosphere Reserve in India. St. Stephen’s Church

One of the most intriguing architectural marvels in the Nilgiri district, this 19th-century Church is one of the best places to visit in Ooty in 3 days. Built as an ode for the birthday of King George IV, this building stands as a testimony to the magnificence of British-era architecture.

The interiors of the church are wooden and adorned with beautiful glass paintings. You can even see a huge painting depicting The Last Supper. Also, there is an ancient graveyard in the backyard with tombstones dating back to the 18th-century. An interesting fact is that the wood used to build this church was brought from Tipu Sultan’s palace after the British defeated him.

Avalanche Lake

Thread Garden

Ooty’s Thread Garden is not only one of the most unique places in the city, but also in the world. Visitors are welcomed by scores of gorgeous flowers, all made of colourful threads! This garden took over 12 years to complete and is the brainchild of Antony Joseph.

An interesting fact is that not even a single needle or machinery has been used in making these flowers. Crores of metres of naturally dyed thread have been meticulously tied over wires and cardboard shapes using the Four-Dimensional Hand-Wound Embroidery technique to create these amazing arrangements.

When you are in Ooty, you must visit the Mukurthi National Park, which is one of the most beautiful places in an already beautiful hill station. Situated in the western part of the Nilgiri Plateau in the Western Ghats, this national park is one of Ooty’s greatest pride. The park was established in 2001, on 12th December, and is spread over an area of 78.46 square kilometres. 

Due to its vast reserve of fauna and flora, this site has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 2012. It was a truly amazing experience for me and my friend. We reached the place before the check in time but still without a hesitation the staff managed to accommodate us in our tent leaving us enough time to explore the beautiful surrounding and embark on our own adventure. The surrounding area was not even close to what we expected.. the beauty and the calming sound of nature itself is enough to make you forget all your troubles and the busy life. We were visiting ooty for the first time and we came across this out of nowhere and booked it right away and when we reached the place the next day we realized it was more than what we had expected for such a cheap price. The tents are comfortable and the staff is really kind and helpful which is a major plus point. This is a must try for all kinds of thrill seekers, adventure hunters, friends, family or simply anyone who is looking to get away from the busy life And escape into serenity.

The view from the top will amaze you. it was a memorable experience for the group. just the trek was tiring but it was worth it. there were small streams and waterfall allover and a perfect place to enjoy with my friends. also, a night stay was very refreshing away from the city. do this trek i am sure you will all love it like i did.
