Nilgiri Mountain Railway

The Nilgiri Mountain Railway is one of the best experiences to be had when in Ooty and must be on your list of places to visit in Ooty in one day! Established in the year 1899 by the British, this toy train with wooden carriages and large windows is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Rose Garden

When looking for places in Ooty to visit in one day, then this international award-winning rose garden must be included in your itinerary.  Established in the year 1995, the garden is one amongst the 35 in the world to have received the honour of getting a ‘Garden of Excellence Award.’

Situated on the slopes of the Elk Hill in Vijayanagaram of Ooty town, the garden is spread across 10 acres of land. Ooty Lake

Ooty lake also known by the name of Boat House is an artificial lake situated in the heart of the hill town. You can easily reach it by walking or by road since it is located at a distance of a mere 1 kilometres from the city’s bus stand. Needle View Hillpoint

Tiger Hill

Ooty Botanical Garden

For all the nature-lovers looking for Ooty places to visit in one day, a trip to the Ooty Botanical Gardens is a must! Spread over 55 acres, these gardens date back to 1848 when they were laid out by the Marquis of Tweedle. Lying in the lower slopes of the Doddabetta National Park, these gardens are divided into different sections and have a terraced layout.

Avalanche Lake

Thread Garden

The Thread Garden in Ooty is one of the most unique tourist places to visit in the region. It gets its name from the fact that it is a garden made up entirely of thread. This garden showcases around 150 species of realistic-looking flowers and plants, all made out of a technique known as ‘four-dimensional hand-wound embroidery.’

Stone House

Stone House is symbolic of the rich cultural history of Ooty and dates back centuries, right back to 1822 when its construction began. Stone House was the first bungalow which was constructed in Ooty and was known by the name of Kal Bangala or Stone Bungalow by the tribals, right from its inception.

This magnificent bungalow has stood the test of time and today is an excellent piece of Indian Heritage. These days, it is used as the official residence for the Principal of Government Arts College in Ooty. Toda Hamlet

A visit to the Toda Hamlet is a great way of experiencing what the land which is known by the name of Ooty today, looked like two centuries ago! Before Ooty was on any maps and before it became this well-known tourist town, attracting people from all parts of the world, it was home to the Toda community.

You can spend your day in Ooty exploring one of the Toda Hamlets that are sprinkled in some remote parts of the land. These simple, tribal people live in small groups, with usually ten or so huts in one hamlet. The Toda huts are usually built in a semi-barrel shape, without windows and you might have to bend to enter the hut. Mighara Hulangamuwa Adventure Camping in Ooty

It was a truly amazing experience for me and my friend. We reached the place before the check in time but still without a hesitation the staff managed to accommodate us in our tent leaving us enough time to explore the beautiful surrounding and embark on our own adventure. The surrounding area was not even close to what we expected.. the beauty and the calming sound of nature itself is enough to make you forget all your troubles and the busy life. We were visiting ooty for the first time and we came across this out of nowhere and booked it right away and when we reached the place the next day we realized it was more than what we had expected for such a cheap price. The tents are comfortable and the staff is really kind and helpful which is a major plus point. This is a must try for all kinds of thrill seekers, adventure hunters, friends, family or simply anyone who is looking to get away from the busy life And escape into serenity.

Great place to watch nature in fullest. The view from the top will amaze you. it was a memorable experience for the group. just the trek was tiring but it was worth it. there were small streams and waterfall allover and a perfect place to enjoy with my friends. also, a night stay was very refreshing away from the city. do this trek i am sure you will all love it like i did.
