Tanah Lot Temple

This spiritual masterpiece is known for its beautiful offshore setting and mind alluring sunset backdrops. Considered as one of the most iconic temples in Ubud it exudes royal splendour and magnificent artwork. Perched on the top of an impressive outcrop this Hindu shrine seizes you into the immortality of the moment amidst the constantly crashing waves that flow on top of it.

Built-in the 80s it started to crumble; therefore, many of the rocks at the base of the temple were replaced by artificial rocks. It still recites the tale of its age old wisdom through the excellent cravings that have been done on the wall.

Goa Gajah Temple

It is a very famous archaeological site located on the western border of Bedulu village. Goa Gajah Temple was built in around 9th century on a hillside. Two streams meet over here and form a river junction. This temple was specially built for enclosed meditation and prayer.

A giant menacing face with wide-open mouth stands at the entrance, and you enter inside the temple through the cavernous mouth of the demon.  The whole temple is full of forest and animal motifs.

There is a T shaped cave inside the temple where you can find the fragmentary remains of the phallic symbol God Shiva lingam. This is one of the most interestingly built Ubud temples.

Pura Taman Saraswati

It is one of the most magnificent water temples in Ubud. This temple has been designed as an open space for worship and is interwoven beautifully by a series of decorated gates that lead to an undiscovered shrine.

The temple is dedicated symbolically to Goddess Saraswati, and all the sandstone and cravings here have been created in her honour. It has ponds full of blooming lotuses, and the beautiful walls feature Balinese temple architecture.

Pura Gunung Lebah

Pura Padang Kerta

It is a very famous Balinese temple with an attractive rooftop and wonderful artwork. Located in Ubud people come over here to seek personification and ultimate bliss. The western entrance to this temple is through Central Ubud.

It is an age old temple, and it is believed that the Guardians of the temple inscribed on the rooftop protect the people from the evil spirit. Its rooftop is made with coconut leaf fibres, which are a sight to behold.

Pura Tirta Empul

This famous Balinese water temple is located in Central Bali in the village of Manukaya. It has been declared a national heritage site. A holy water spring is located within the temple that is famous for purification baths.

The temple consists of three key divisions which have been categorized as the front division, secondary and inner courtyard. Tropical plants and beautiful statues welcome visitors at the entrance of the temple.

Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal

This is a famous Balinese Hindu temple located in the southwest area of Ubud monkey forest. Lord Shiva is mainly worshipped over here, and it has an Indiana Jones feel to it. The temple was built around 1350 and is one of the three Hindu temples that make a temple complex in the Sacred Monkey Forest.

You’ll feel totally enamoured by the bliss and serenity of this place.

Pura Puseh Ubud

It is one of the most beautiful Ubud temples known for a tiered gateway, 11th-century pillar and attractive animal statues. The temple is adorned with complex stone carvings and dates back to around the eleventh century. This temple was renovated in 1992.

The notable features include Bhoma head on the main gateway and great elephant relics on the main stairway. The fibre of the Chromatic palm tree has been used to make the top of this temple.

Pura Taman Sari

It is another breathtaking masterpiece located in Ubud that is composed of three temples lined from North to South. These three temples are Pura Taman Sari Water Castle, Pura Penataran and Segening Temple.

This temple is also known as the Flower Garden Temple because it has got lovely water lilies in the pond located inside the temple. It has eleven roofed menu, which indicates that this temple was constructed for royalty.

Pura Dalem Taman Kaja

It is one of the most renowned Balinese temples in Ubud where regular outdoor performances such as Kecak dance takes place. The visitors enjoy this traditional dance form in the courtyard of the temple. It consists of marvellous architecture and artwork inscribed on the walls of the temple.
